About the Event

This short ethnographic documentary looks at the Indigenous Garífuna culture in Honduras. Making use of interviews with community members, local politicians, and members of the Garífuna diaspora in the United States, On Our Land tries to give some history for this Afro-Caribbean group which continues to find itself neglected in a country they’ve inhabited for centuries. (Running Time: 20 minutes) After viewing the brief film, we will have a discussion about the Garifuna culture and peoples.
